Today I entered 6 pieces into the Ohio State Fair competition . I will find out the results in June.

We have been spending time in Mazatlan for about seven years and feel so fortunate to be here again especially in November.
i love the people and the gracious friendly look at life.
I brought a few small boards to paint in the early mornings. We are on a two hour time difference which means watching the sunrise and the sun setting over the Sea of Cortez at 5:30pm

Snow Last Night
I finished this 9"x12 " this morning after 3 days. This painting was titled because of the apparent heavy snow during the night. It blew so hard the snow stuck to the side of the trees and the sunrise lit up the snow spectacularly.

Great Dog Adventure
My pet supply company is having a contest for which I needed a photo of myself and Izzy plus a 200 word essay telling why I wanted to win an adventure trip to anywhere in the USA with my dog. I wrote that I would take her on a painting backpacking trip to Michigan's UP.
We took a photo of the two of us critiquing my painting of she and Danny and another landscape.

Crossing over at Dusk
At the edge of town runs the river. We were driving over the bridge just at the time the water captured the last of the sun on a perfect fall day. I was amazed at the shades of violet and purples plus the orange reflection of the autumn leaves.

Low Country Sunset
Low Country in South Carolina at sunset can include all the colors on a palette. We were driving in a preserved area and were lucky enough to stop and take a few shots one of which inspired this painting. It is a 11"x14" oil on canvas.

This woods in the spring is a carpet of seldom seen wildflowers and all along the one and a half mile path the abundance of these spring beauties is quite surprising. There is an area where the Mayapples carpet the forest floor. The sunlight caught by the large umbrella like leaves was the draw for me to want to paint this big landscape piece.

For the past 7 years I take a week long backpacking trip with friends and Heather.
I decided to paint the trail at Laurel Highlands from the perspective of Cheryl and I hiking ahead. I'm guessing we were photographed by the stragglers!
My trail name is Small Curly and if you were standing next to me you would know why that is so.
I get so much inspiration from being in the woods for this extended period.

Izzy our golden retriever is always so excited to go down to play in our creek. It was the perfect summer day for my grandson Harrison and her to do some stone skipping while cooling off.
I think i captured the distance and mood of the day.

During a visit to Nashville with my daughter i became intrigued by the bands playing in the windows of the bars. Painting the neon made a fun challenge to try to make the light pop.

The hillside beyond this woods is a pasture and on some days the cattle graze right up to the edge of this woods. When Izzy is walking with us she is worried about the quiet giant dogs on the other side of the fence.

I painted this scene from inside looking out my kitchen window. The temperature was in the single digits so I made the decision to stay indoors. The sun was trying to warm the day as you can see on the sides of the trees.
